Paula Badosa advanced to the next round of the
Miami Open with a confident display and straight-set win over Bouzkova 7-5 7-5.
It was a hard-fought match between Bouzkova and Badosa and that was largely expected. The Czech player found some form recently and has generally played rather well in the past month. She put up a very strong effort against Badosa, especially in the first set forcing the Spaniard to play some of the best tennis she has to offer.
Badosa had early break point chances but Bouzkova was able to keep herself in the match. The crucial moment for the match came at 2-3 when Bouzkova had 40-0 on Badosa's serve. It was a huge chance for her that could have swung the match in her favour but she failed to convert them. After that, Badosa squandered another break point and things settled a bit.
Not much happened until 5-5 when the Spaniard finally got a great chance to break her opponent's serve and she took it. She finished it off with 7-5. Things went quite easier in the 2nd set as Badosa now knew how to attack her opponent. She took an early break and added another one after that. That resulted in a 5-1 lead for her but things became complicated after that.
Sensing defeat being near, Bouzkova went all out letting loose and it worked. She puleld one break back and then another bringin the scoreline to 5-5. Badosa broke her opponent once more to take a 6-5 lead and finally finished off the job with 7-5.
