Eurosport tennis analyst Mats Wilander spoke about the steady rise of Iga Swiatek and her evolution into a 'complete player'.
Everybody knew that Iga Swiatek was destined for great things in tennis when she won the French Open in stunning fashion as a teenager. Last season was used as a consolation season where she won a couple of events and consolidated herself as a top player. This season she finally took that next step as she prepares to take over the number one ranking from Ashleigh Barty.
He said:
"She's won Roland Garros. And she's done it easily, without dropping a single set. She's done well at the other grand slams. She has been preparing herself to be in the spotlight of professional tennis for a long time. She's been travelling with a psychologist to be mentally ready for that part of tennis."
He further said:
"Tennis is a problem solving situation. You're not going to solve all the problems but the better prepared you are for the day when you get that unknown. It can be sucess or failure. She's a very complete player, she's very mature and she's a future number one.
