Nick Kyrgios dazzled everybody with a superb masterclass of tennis against
Andrey Rublev in Miami 6-3 6-0.
The Australian has been known to win some stellar matches against some of the best in the world but it has been a long time since Kyrgios put on a show as he did against Rublev. A great run in Indian Wells was not a fluke and the Australian proved it with the dismantling of Rublev, who has been one of the best tennis players in the world this season.
The Russian saw a 13-match winning streak snapped last week by Fritz and it seems like that defeat affected him a bit. He was not very good today but he played well enough to win except he faced Kyrgios who was on fire, quite literally. The Russian opened the match with an early break but Kyrgios never lost his nerve.
He calmly battled back in superb fashion winning the first set with 6-3. Rublev struggled a lot with his serve as the match went on and that gave Kyrgios a great chance to attack with his return. He did and with great success. The serve became better for Rublev in the 2nd set but Kyrgios was so in the zone that it did not matter.
He broke Rublev early for the 2-0 lead, and then once more for the 4-0 lead and then once more for the 5-0 lead. He then served for the bagel and the match and he did it. 6-3 6-0 the final score in a dismantling that Rublev won't forget, for a long time.
