Paula Badosa survived a close one against Laura Siegemund beating her in three sets 7-6(2) 4-6 6-3 at the
Miami Open advancing to the next round.
Badosa hasn't been playing that well in Miami in the past and this one was another tricky one. The Spaniard dealt with some injuries this year so she's yet to find a really good rhythm with her ranking dropping. She's out of the top 20 right now and she'll need to start winning matches sooner rather than later.
This one started off well for her because she took an early 3-0 lead and looked in full control of the match. She held it until 5-4 when she stepped up to serve for the set but she got broken at that spot which is something that happens frequently to her. We ended up in a tiebreak after that and Badosa got it done 7-2.
Siegemund opened the second set well with an early break 30 but then she held on for that for the rest of the set. Badosa had a good chance down 3-5 to break back but the German was able to hold her serve and send the match into a 3rd set. In the final one Badosa finally took over the match by taking an early 3-0 lead and then adding another break later on to win it 6-2.
