Jessica Pegula doesn't think
Iga Swiatek will recreate her 2022 form because that was an incredible level that is very hard to replicate.
She got smashed by Swiatek in the Doha final but even so Pegula doesn't think that the Polish player will win over 30 matches in a row like she did last year. Swiatek broke records with her level last year and recreating that would be quite iconic because of how hard it is. Pegula doesn't think it will happen though:
"I think we'll find out. I think Doha is where [Iga Swiatek] started her really big run. Obviously she's still playing at a very high level. She definitely loves playing in Doha, found her form there at a really, again, high level. So we'll see."
She added further context to that:
"I'm not saying [Iga Swiatek] can't do exactly what she did last year. I don't think anyone, at least I'm not expecting it because that was incredible. I'm sure she's still going to play some great tennis and she's definitely playing like a true No. 1, and she's the one to beat. I guess we'll see as the year unfolds where it goes."
