Peng Shuai has strenuously denied that any accusation of sexual assault was never levied and a post made by her last month was misunderstood.
Shuai became a matter of public concern when she appeared to send allegations the way of former Chinese vice premier, Zhang Gaoli with her safety continuously called into question.
This even saw the WTA and ITF pull tournaments in China in 2022 but in an interview with Lianhe Zaobao, a Singapore media outlet - these allegations were denied.
"First, I need to stress one point that is extremely important, I have never said or written that anyone has sexually assaulted me, I have to clearly stress this point," Peng said in the video.
This was done at a cross-country skiing event in Shanghai where she said that her post on Weibo was a private matter and that it was misunderstood.
