"People think I have a butler and a private limo": Jessica Pegula hilariously hits back at 'outrageous' billionaire lifestyle theories

Jessica Pegula is the top ranked American having sealed the honour again after reaching the Quarter-Finals for the second time at the US Open. But often a tag that follows her around is perceived wealth.

Sealing a 6-4, 6-2 win over Diana Shnaider, Pegula is in red hot form but was seen taking the subway admitting she prefers it to driving. But asked about the wild theories that accompany her maybe a chauffeured limo is perhaps the method of transport she should've taken.

Similar to her fellow Quarter-Finalist Emma Navarro, Pegula was born into significant wealth and often gets called the wealthiest tennis player or a billionaire tennis player. Despite none of this wealth being her own as such, she is the daughter of Buffalo Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula with the former estimated to be worth $7.7 billion.

But she has made it well known that she has received little to no financial help in her career in a sport which is already swelled with riches anyway for being at the top level. Still though the perception remains which she finds hilarious.

"I did some social media thing the other day too and they said what's the most annoying thing. It's that people think I have a butler, that I get chauffeured around. I have a private limo, that I fly private everywhere. I'm definitely not like that," said Pegula.

"People can think what they want I don't know, I just think it's kind of funny. Like a butler, I read these comments like she probably has this and that and I'm like no, not all. But maybe I should I don't know at this point. Is that what you want me to do? Just do all these crazy. It's a little annoying but I just think it's kind of funny. I don't really even know anybody who lives like that. It's outrageous."
