Potapova sparks outrage after being pictured wearing Moscow jersey prior to Pegula defeat

Anastasia Potapova created outrage among tennis fans when she arrived at Indian Wells before her match with Pegula in a Spartak Moscow journey.

Russian and Belarussian players are permitted to play on the ATP and WTA Tour only under a neutral banner without making any association with the countries. Potapova circumvented that by wearing a football jersey to the tennis court instead of standard tennis attire which didn't go unnoticed.

Many fans speculated whether she did that on purpose as a way to comment on the situation although it wasn't the first time she did that. She was doing the same thing in Dubai earlier this year. Some fans were outraged by it on social media demanding her disqualification and fines but for now, nothing happened.
