Many wondered what
Coco Gauff could do against
Iga Swiatek and the answer was quite simple as the Pole cruised 6-0 6-3.
It was a very hard defeat for Gauff to swallow as it was even more dominant than her loss in the Roland Garros final. She embraced the challenge wanting to see what she could do but it went badly, really badly. From the start, it was obvious that Swiatek had the upper hand as she served a bagel to Gauff. Then she outplayed her in the second set as well to take it 6-3.
The victory sends her into the semi-final against a super-solid
Jessica Pegula and on playing her, Iga said:
"Jessie is one of the most solid players on tour so it's always hard. Our matches are always physical and really tight. Even though sometimes the scores are one way, you can see during the games we always have deuces and any point can matter."
She added:
"I'm pretty happy that we're going to play against each other because it's a test for me of where my level is because she's really, really solid."
