In our Preview of Day Three of the WTA 1000 Guadalajara Open AKRON, the tournament's top seeds begin their campaigns, including Ons Jabeur, Maria Sakkari, and Caroline Garcia.

Third seed Garcia will be first up on the court in the Estadio Akron de Tenis, where she will play her Round of 32 match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich, who defeated Arantxa Rus in her previous round. The French player is expected to move through this round with relative ease, as she currently leads the head-to-head with her opponent 5-0.

Later in the day, top seed Jabeur will start her run at the tournament against Alycia Parks, who ousted Lauren Davis with a straight-sets win in the Round of 64. The World No. 7 leads their head-to-head 2-0, with their most recent meeting at the 2022 Berlin Open ending in a straight-sets victory for Jabeur.

Prior to Jabeur's match, tenth seed Victoria Azarenka will take on Dayana Yastremska. The former World No. 1 had little difficulty in ousting Robin Montgomery from the tournament in the Round of 64, winning the match 6-1, 6-1. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian player won her opening round against home player Ana Sofía Sánchez to set up the clash. 

After Jabeur, second seed Maria Sakkari will play against Australia's Storm Hunter. The Greek player had a solid run at the San Diego Open last week, reaching the quarter-finals. She is also the defending runner-up at Guadalajara and will likely be hoping to go one step further this year. This will be her first meeting with Hunter, who defeated Iryna Shymanovich in straight sets to reach the Round of 32.

Ending the day on this court will be fourth seed Madison Keys. The American had a hugely successful run at the US Open earlier this month, defeating the likes of Jessica Pegula and Marketa Vondrousova to reach the semi-finals. She will take on compatriot Emma Navarro in her opening round at this tournament. They faced each other for the first time earlier this year, with Keys leading their head-to-head 1-0.

Also on the court in Estadio Akron de Tenis will be the resumption of Elvina Kalieva's match with Taylor Townsend, which was suspended yesterday. The latter player won the first set 6-1, and they are currently level at 5-5 in the second.

Over on Grandstand Caliente, Sloane Stephens will take on Emiliana Arango, who pulled off a surprise straight-sets victory over eleventh seed Anastasia Potapova in the Round of 64.

After this match, eighth seed Ekaterina Alexandrova will play against Magdalena Frech, before the clash between Leylah Fernandez and thirteenth seed Elise Mertens takes place. This will be followed by sixth seed Jelena Ostapenko locking horns with Marta Kostyuk.
