The Wuhan Open is set to take place between 7-13 October 2024 with the prize money breakdown set for the final WTA 1000 of the season.
Taking place on the outdoor courts of Wuhan, it returns for the first time since 2019. Back then, Aryna Sabalenka won it two years in a row and made it her own. But it was axed off the calendar after the Peng Shuai incident.
As WTA bowed to the boycott ending, the Wuhan Open returns this year. Other previous winners include Caroline Garcia, Petra Kvitova and Venus Williams. Among the contingent expected to play include Sabalenka as well as Iga Swiatek. The entire top 25 is entered but Garcia as well as Rybakina, Sakkari among others will be doubts. The former already has ended her season for mental health reasons.
