Paula Badosa has been lowkey one of the best clay players in the past few years holding the 3rd place in most wins on the surface behind Iga Swiatek and Ons Jabeur.
The Spanish player got her Porsche Tennis Grand Prix campaign underway with a decisive win over Daria Kasatkina which was her 29th win in the past three years on clay. It's the 3rd best mark on the WTA Tour with only Ons Jabeur and Iga Swiatek ahead of her. Jabeur has the most wins by virtue of playing most matches while Swiatek has been utterly dominant on the surface which is traditionally her strongest.
Badosa is not far away which might surprise many because some of her biggest wins came on hard courts such as the Indian Wells Masters a few years ago.
