After the quarter-finals at Hiroshima, we know the names of the last 4 players to fight for a seat in the finals during the sixth day of play in Japan.

In the first match, home fans could enjoy seeing their player on the court. The first-seeded at the tournament and last year's champion Su-Wei Hsieh was outplayed by home player Nao Hibino. The 29th player in WTA ranking Hsieh had already struggled in previous matches, so supporters in Japan knew that Hibino could defeat Su-Wei. After the win she said:
"I don't know why but having had a day off since my second round match, I was nervous going into today's match," Hibino said. "Once I got on the court, I was no longer nervous and was able to play well. I know how Su-wei plays, and all three of my opponents this week are similar. I am playing in Japan and the crowd's cheering gives me power, so I will try to stay on the court as long as possible."
After enjoying the first Japanese to go through to semi-finals, Misaki Doi also played her game. Sare Sorribes Tormo was her opponent in the quarterfinals. The Spanish was leading 5-4 in the first set and went to serve for the set, but since then the home player has won 9 out of 10 games, winning 7-5 and 6-1. Japan will thus have two players in the semifinals.
Even in the third match we could see a win of less favored and not-seeded player. Mihaela Buzarnescu defeated Alisson Van Uytvanck, who was third-seeded at the tournament in straight sets 6-4 and 7-5.
The last match was completely different. Not only did we see three sets, but the seeded player also won in this match. The fact that the winner would be the seeded player was already clear before the match, as the second seeded Vernoika Kudermetova and the eighth seeded Laura Siegemund met.
The match started better for Kudermetova when she won the first set 6-3, but then the German straightened and so the third decisive set was played. Kudermetova dominated 6-2 in the last set and so she remained the only seeded player at the tournament.
