America’s Madison Keys received widespread congratulations from a number of fellow countrywomen after her success in the US Open 2023.
The fourth and final Grand Slam of the year is moving towards its conclusion as the remaining players continue to battle to claim the ultimate prize.
Keys booked her place in the semifinal of the mega-event after defeating Czech Republic’s Marketa Vondrousova in the quarterfinal in straight sets with a score of 6-1, 6-4 on Tuesday.
After her success, she received widespread congratulations from other American players such as Jennifer Brady and Sloane Stephens.
"Queen of the Night," Brady wrote on Instagram whereas Stephens wrote "Let's do this baby!!!!."
Keys’ victory came as a little surprise as she has not been able to qualify for the quarterfinal or beyond in the US Open since 2018.
This will be the third time the Illinois-born will play in the semifinal of the mega-event has also played in the final of the competition in 2017 where she ended on the losing side against fellow American Stephens in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-0.
A year later, Keys was knocked out of the competition after losing the semifinal to Japan’s Naomi Osaka in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-4.
