The prolific pairing of
Jessica Pegula and
Coco Gauff will return at the next WTA 1000 event in preparation for the US Open, as confirmed this week by Pegula.
The duo were noticeably absent from the doubles draw at this week's
DC Open, with Pegula later explaining that they opted to skip Washington due to the extreme heat in the capital.
Fan-favorites confirmed for Montreal and Cincinnati
In an interview after her opening round win in Washington, World No.4 Pegula stated she and Gauff would both play in the doubles event at Montreal and Cincinnati. The duo lifted are the defending champions at the
Canadian Open, therefore they feel the need to defend their ranking points.
"We are signed up to play Montreal and Cincinnati and US Open," said Pegula. "Depends. But, you know, those are 1000s, big events. I think we will probably still try and play those.
"Actually I think we won Toronto last year, so I guess we should play, defending some points. I don't think we played Cincinnati last year. I think that's when she turned her ankle. Yeah, as far as I know, we are playing. I should probably ask, though."
