Emma Raducanu has done it, she is in the main draw of the US Open after winning the 3rd qualification match against Mayar Sherif.
Emma Raducanu continued winning on North American hard courts with the British player reaching the main draw of the US Open. It took her 3 qualification matches and Raducanu won all three in straight sets. Today against Sherif her victory was never in doubt as she was in control from the start.
She took an early break for a 3-0 lead after which she added another break to make it 5-0 before closing out the set with 6-1. Raducanu simply dominated in the rallies and Sherif was not able to win points as soon as the point developed. The British player also served very well in the first set.
Her served regressed a little bit in the 2nd set and that allowed Sherif some opportunities she did not have in the first set. When Raducanu took a 3-2 lead in the 2nd set Sherif was able to pull it back. However, she then broke her opponent once more to take a 5-3 lead.
She then closed it wout with 6-4 for her 2nd grand slam main draw apperance after Wimbledon 2021.
