Emma Raducanu played her best match this year at the Western & Southern Open completely dismantling
Victoria Azarenka 6-0 6-2.
Emma Raducanu showed a pretty high level last night against Serena Williams but she produced a much higher one today. The opponent was Victoria Azarenka, a counter puncher who knows how to absorb aggression and turn it against you however she had no answers in this one. Raducanu rediscovered her US Open magic from last year to literally blow Azarenka off the court.
The match went very similarly to what how many projected it to go with Raducanu attacking and Azarenka resorting to sending balls back. The only problem for the Belarussian was her inability to find the court. Too many mistakes and too much given to Raducanu who simply continued winning point after point. Soon it was game and after game and we saw the 2nd bagel from Raducanu at this event.
Neither Williams nor Azarenka are at their peak tennis-wise but gifting them a bagel in back-to-back matches is something else. Raducanu kept applying the pressure in the 2nd and Azarenka couldn't do anything. She fell behind 0-4 before finally winning a service game. Raducanu faced some late pressure but she was able to finish it off relatively easily 6-2.
