Andy Murray had multiple chances to win this match but he made some very poor choices in crucial moments giving Cameron Norrie enough to come back and win 3-6 6-3 6-4.
Andy Murray will remember this match for a while as the Brit squandered multiple chances to walk away with a pretty impressive win. Many consider Norrie to be the weakest player in the top 15 and while that might be harsh he certainly has his flaws. Murray was able to exploit some of them in this matchup he was his worst enemy.
The first set was pretty solid despite Murray losing his serve in the first game. He would break back immediately to make it 1-1 but missed out on a chance to go ahead when he had a 40-15 on Norrie's serve. He would eventually pull ahead and finish off the opening set 6-3 with some really solid play. Murray missed a huge chance in the 2nd set when he slammed a point blank ball on break point wide.
It proved particularly costly a bit later when Norrie took the 5-3 lead. Murray had 40-0 on Norrie's serve but lost five points in a row to drop the game and the set 3-6. In the final one, Murray left some more chances on the table, especially towards the end of the set. He had 3 break points but converted neither with Norrie proving better in a similar situation.
The younger Brit then closed it out 6-4. A huge missed chance by Murray but simply not good enough in crucial rallies.
