Emma Raducanu is unsure whether she'll play at the Australian Open but she's keeping her expectations low considering the circumstances.
Raducanu had high hopes for the Australian Summer but rather quickly things fell apart when she rolled her ankle in Auckland. The first week of the season gave her first retirement of the year and it also created a lot of doubt about her participation in the Australian Open. She still doesn't know whether she'll be able to participate but she's keeping her expectations low:
"I am just taking it a day at a time and every single day just trying as best as possible to see and make progress. We’ll see. Hopefully by Monday or whenever the tournament starts I’ll be OK and ready. We’re just taking it a day at a time and not trying to expect too much at this point.”
Raducanu has been spotted in practice in Melbourne but there was very little moving around the court suggesting that the team is approaching the ankle carefully. It's not a great sign but time will tell.
