Britain’s tennis star
Emma Raducanu's ranking has taken another
hit as she is now close to going out of the top 200 players in the WTA rankings.
The 20-year-old has not played any professional tennis match
since April 17, 2023, where she lost to Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko in the round
of 32 clash at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix because of fitness concerns.
It is because of this reason that Raducanu has now dropped
to the 186th spot in the WTA latest rankings.
It is not clear whether the Toronto-born will be able to
compete in the upcoming US Open or the WTA Finals.
The fourth and final Grand Slam of the year is set to begin
in less than seven days’ time where players from all over the globe will participate
to fight for the ultimate prize.
On the other hand, WTA Finals will be played in Zhuhai,
China from October 24 to 29.
Raducanu emerged onto the scene after winning the US Open back
in 2021 following her victory in the final against Canada’s Leylah Fernandez
with a score of 6–4, 6–3.
The victory was an even more special one considering that Raducanu
started that tournament in the qualifying round.
