Emma Raducanu put forward yet another solid performance against Mariam Bolkvadze 6-3 7-5 and the British player is only one match win away from the main draw. This match was a lot tougher for Raducanu who also battled harsh conditions with extreme heat in New York along with suffocating humidity.
The first set was a very tightly contested one as both players played very similarly. Both serve well and both played well when their first serve dropped. Raducanu was just a little bit better and had more chances which resulted in the 6-3 1st set win.
The 2nd set was even more interesting as Bolkvadze was playing better early. The Georgian player was even able to take a 4-2 lead against Raducanu who struggled a bit on her 2nd serve. However, the British player did not get discouraged and kept fighting eventually pulling it back to 4-4.
From there she started playing better and ultimately was able to take a late break making it 6-5. After that, she served out the match winning the 2nd set with 7-5. A strong win for Raducanu who is now only one win away from the main draw.
