Coco Gauff has admired Roger Federer a long time both for his on-court prowess and off-court class and she confirmed it once more.
The young tennis phenom made a red-hot start at the BNP Indian Wells winning matches both in singles and doubles and after one of her matches she was asked about Roger Federer and what he means to her. The American has been a longtime admirer of Federer and she said:
"Roger Federer is the greatest on and off the court. He is a great guy, I spoke to him a couple of times and he's been a great support for me. I don't think anybody has one bad thing to say about him."
It's a very nice compliment by Gauff who has praised Federer many times. Her statement is also true as Federer is one of the most beloved tennis players in history. He has been widely praised for his professionalism on and off the court which is something Gauff also admires.
Obviously, Federer is not without fault but not many players will ever come close to his popularity in the sport of tennis. His value to the sport is immense in many ways and it will be a shame to see him not play anymore. An executive career might be on the hands for the Swiss ace after retirement, possibly in the TEAM8 agency he co-founded with his longtime agent.
The agency notably represents several tennis players including Coco Gauff.
