Shelby Rogers stunned the world and Kvitova herself, after defeating her in three sets to book a spot in the quarterfinals of the US Open.

A shaky start didn't discourage Kvitova from playing her game and that decision paid off as she defeated Rogers to reach the next round of the US Open. This match between Kvitova and Rogers started off slowly with both players focusing on their own service games preventing the other from gaining an early advantage. The first one to strike was Rogers who broke Kvitova midway through the 1st set.
The Czech player responded immediately breaking Rogers to make it 4-4. They then traded a few games before we arrived in the tiebreak. In it, it was Rogers who was more clinical and she won it 7-5. Kvitova was not happy with that result which is why she started ferociously in the 2nd set. She took an early break to make it 3-1 and added one more in the final game of the set to secure it 6-3.
The final set started off much worse for Kvitova as she found herself down 2-0 at the start. She took the warning seriously prompting her to play much better winning the next three games. After that, we saw the player's trade a few games with Kvitova coming close to a break several times but never quite managing it. A tiebreak would settle it and in it, it was Rogers who emerged victoriously. It was a hard-fought tiebreak and match where Rogers had to save a match point to win it.
