Elina Svitolina's best run since becoming a mother has come to an end on Saturday afternoon with former US Open champion, Sloane Stephens accounting for her at Saint Malo, a WTA 125k.
Stephens sealed it 7-5, 7-6 and saved four set points in the second set. To open the tie, Svitolina took a 5-2 lead but having the chance to serve out the first set, she failed to do so.
This allowed Stephens to get the break back and cut the deficit and suddenly she was sat at a 6-5 lead from there before serving it out.
Similarly in the second set, Svitolina this time took a 5-4 lead and had a set point on Stephens' serve which she missed but had three more in the 12th game missing all three and Stephens forced a tie break before taking it.
The American faces Greet Minnen in the final tomorrow, it is her first final since last February.

Very good win for Sloane Stephens who beats Elina Svitolina 7-5, 7-6 in the Saint-Malo 125K semis. She will play her first final at any level since Guadalajara 250 last February. Saved FOUR set points in the second set.
