Elena Rybakina has called the
Wimbledon U-turn on the ban 'the right decision' as last year's decision left her without 2000 points which would have made life easier for her.
Rybakina wasn't a fan of no point being awarded at last year's Wimbledon referencing that many times. In her mind it made the victory feel less like a victory as she didn't really feel like a Wimbledon champion. Should she win it this year, she'll get the points after the event made a U-turn on their previous ban and she commented on the decision following the Miami Open final against Kvitova.
Rybakina said:
"I mean, they have been playing like this for all the tournaments, so it was only Grand Slam they were not allowed, so I think that's the way that they are playing without any flags. I think it's right decision, I guess."
And the match itself, Rybakina added:
"Yeah, was really tough first set, and I think it made a big difference starting the second set. Yeah, just happy with two weeks overall. Not so happy with the second set of course, but I think it's still positive one month here in U.S."
And on the future, she underlined health as a key thing:
"Now the goal is still, as I said, to be healthy, because when even you play that good these two weeks, you never know how you're gonna come out on clay and you need to do good preparation also there. That's the most important.
