ATP Race Update: Alexander Zverev, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz qualify for Turin as rest of top eight wide open

The ATP Race has been updated after the US Open, with three players assured of their spot at the end-of-year finals in Turin and another player making a strong case towards doing so himself.

Alexander Zverev continues to add to his lead at the top of the rankings. He is on 8,650 points compared to Jannik Sinner on 7,950 points, and the duo are both already qualified with a protracted cut-off of 5,070 points.

Zverev won the US Open title, defeating Ben Shelton in the final, and it is Shelton who is in the third spot. He is behind the cutoff, though, so at the moment he won't qualify yet. He has strengthened that thought, and given that Carlos Alcaraz behind him is already in and qualified, it will strengthen his hopes.

Top eight very open

The top eight make it, and behind that top four, it is Flavio Cobolli in fifth with 3,530 points, as well as Frances Tiafoe on 3,330 points and Arthur Fils on 3,150.

As the champion at the Australian Open, Alcaraz already qualifies as a major winner, and Zverev/Sinner have won the rest, so they qualify anyway. Daniil Medvedev is currently in the final spot on 2,780. But there is an interesting complexion to everything, with Rafael Jodar, Taylor Fritz all the way down to Novak Djokovic in 15th, definitely not out of it and a good run away from forcing their way in.

Jodar is on 2,509 points compared to 2,780 for Medvedev, and the rest are fairly close, from Taylor Fritz on 2,480 to Tommy Paul on 2,385. As well as Felix Auger-Aliassime on 2,365. This goes all the way down to Novak Djokovic on 2,330.
