Last year's finalist
Aryna Sabalenka proved too strong for
Anastasia Potapova beating her 6-1 6-2 at the
Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart.
Interestingly the match lasted 60 minutes in total with the Belarusian beating the Russian. It was a match Potapova was looking forward to but it wasn't a very good experience for her as Sabalenka quickly overpowered her with exceptionally aggressive play. Sabalenka has always played that way but she's found this consistency that is really hard to counter.
Very few players are able to match it and Potapova simply couldn't as Sabalenka asserted her dominance in most rallies and eventually either forced an error on finished off with a winner. A huge problem for Potapova was her serve which was okay but not good enough. The slower second serve was very suitable for attacking and Sabalenka won 15 of 19 of those points.
It's been a trend for the Belarusian to do that as she's been smashing players on their second serve all week long. Potapova couldn't apply the same pressure on Sabalenka when the Belarusian served and we ended up with a 6-1 6-2 score line.
