It's been a very interesting season on the WTA Tour with
Aryna Sabalenka actually leading the
WTA Race to the finals and not Iga Swiatek like many assumed.
So for many people this year has been mostly focused on three players on the WTA Tour and that's rightfully so. We have three players that have been a good level above the rest and that's pretty much shown in the WTA Race to the finals. It's Aryna Sabalenka at the top with the Belarusian having some 500 points over Iga Swiatek even after the latter's triumph at Roland Garros.
The Polish player was quite a bit behind Sabalenka and Rybakina ahead of French Open but those 2000 points came in really handy. It allowed the Polish player to emerge on top of Rybakina by about 700 points which is a lot. Jessica Pegula is the 4th player on the list with a solid 2000+ points but over a grand slam behind Rybakina.
Karolina Muchova is now 5th after her superb run in Paris, slightly ahead of Coco Gauff who is 6th despite not having the best of season so far. Belinda Bencic is 7th even though her form has been very shaky lately with Barbora Krejcikova being number 8. It's been a very interesting season so far and it will be interesting to see which of these players actually book a spot at the WTA Finals.
What's notable on this list is that it's missing Ons Jabeur who played at the Finals last year, Daria Kasatkina too and of course Caroline Garcia who won the WTA Finals last year.
