Aryna Sabalenka and
Iga Swiatek dismantled their opponent in Doha moving on to the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 event.
Aryna Sabalenka stepped onto the courts first and she completely blasted away Teichmann who rarely gets defeated the way she did today. The Swiss player usually enjoys playing aggressively and fights quite hard in every match but today she was easily overmatched by Sabalenka. The Belarussian played a superb match highlighted by the fact she did not commit a single double fault.
It's been a long time since she avoided that but it was just one of those days for her. Teichmann struggled during rallies because Sabalenka was just so strong from the baseline hitting the ball really well. The Swiss player simple left too much time for Sabalenka and her serve was not strong enough to create a lot of easy points. Final score was 6-2 6-1 and it took only 65 minutes.
Joining her in the quarterfinals will be Iga Swiatek who once again defeated
Daria Kasatkina. She was even quicker than Aryna Sabalenka needing one minute less with the match lasting 64 minutes and the final score being 6-3 6-0. Both of them only dropped 3 games overall so it was a display of sheer dominance. It was the 3rd time Swiatek played Kasatkina in 2022 easily besting her each time.
With each victory, Swiatek became more sure of herself and the thrashing was bigger. In this match, she demonstrated a lot of confidence and that should suit her well moving forward at the event.
