Garbine Muguruza defeated Madison Brengle quite easily to complete the quarterfinal line-up of the Qatar Open in Doha.
The Spaniard was the last player to step onto the courts today and just like many of her colleagues had a rather easygoing. Brengle got to this stage of the event as her previous opponent retired from the match but she was clearly no match for Muguruza who was never in doubt as to the victor of the match. Muguruza even outdid Swiatek and Sabalenka by needing only 62 minutes to win the match.
The first set ended with a bagel as Muguruza easily smashed Brengle. The American does not have a powerful serve and that was perfect for Muguruza to unleash her baseline game. She attacked with the return and never let the control of the point go away from her. Brengle put up a better effort in the 2nd set but Muguruza toned her aggression down as well.
Despite all of that, it was still a thrashing by the Spaniard who cruised to a 6-2 finish. Muguruza was quite good overall winning points on both her first serve and the 2nd serve quite easily. She saved all break points she faced and it was a great win for the Spaniard who is aiming for the trophy.
