Liudmila Samsonova and Aliaksandra Sasnovich will play in the Cleveland Open final after winning their semi-final matches yesterday.
The players were both banned from Wimbledon but will now face each other in the final later today. We will have a report for you ready when it's done but getting here took some effort. Liudmila Samsonova has been playing really strong tennis since coming to the US Open winning the Washington trophy as well. She will have a chance to add another to her tally after beating Pera.
Pera has been on a tear herself lately but the American was unable to beat the Russian as Samsonova smashed her 6-1 6-2. Cleveland favours attacking play and a good serve and those are traits that Samsonova possesses.
Sasnovich had a much tougher going but she also faced the famed giant-killer, Alize Cornet. The French player hinted at a possible retirement earlier this year but she is playing some of the best tennis she has ever played this year. Cornet took the first in a tiebreak but the grit of Sasnovich was able to prevail 7-5 6-3 in the next two.
