Sara Sorribes Tormo takes down an out-of-sorts Osaka in Madrid

After doing so well to smash a red-hot Potapova in Madrid, Osaka produced an awful effort against local hero Sara Sorribes Tormo who earned her biggest career win 6-3 6-1.

Sara Sorribes Tormo is a known annoyance to play against because her tennis revolves mainly around pushing the ball back so the opponent can make a mistake. She rarely hits winners in the traditional sense which you would not think judging by the number of grunts she produces during a match. Still, that annoyance of game proved to be very effective against an awful Osaka.

The Japanese player never quite found a very good footing in the match looking quite uncomfortable with the way she was getting her balls back. She was spraying errors all across the court as Sara Sorribes Tormo pushed the ball back as only she knows. It was quite frustrating for Osaka as she never quite got into the match.

She lost the opening set with 6-3 and opened the 2nd with a 0-3 deficit. She briefly spoke to the doctor taking a pill but it's unclear how much that trouble hampered her. She was nowhere near as focused as against Potapova and her opponent just broke her down with her persuasiveness.
