Serena Williams pulled out of the Yarra Valley Classic citing a shoulder issue and many speculated how much will that injury impact her at the
Australian Open.
Serena Williams herself, speaking at the Australian Open press conference didn't seem worried at all and downplayed the issue. She said:
"I feel pretty good. I've gotten a lot of treatment already on my shoulder. But I'm super confident it's going to be great. I'm feeling very confident, I think is a better word, and getting ready for hopefully the next two weeks."
Players downplaying injuries is not uncommon as we have seen many do it in the past. The real test is playing matches and a significant problem will hamper any player during play.
For Serena Williams playing at a Grand Slam is always a must especially since she is chasing that record number of 24. Going into this one she was asked whether it was on her mind and her response was:
"It's definitely on my shoulders and on my mind. I think it's good to be on my mind. I think it's a different burden, I should say, on my shoulders because I'm used to it now. It's more relaxing I would like to say, yeah."
Similarly to Simona Halep she too was asked about where she kept her trophies and she responded with a light flex:
“I have different homes in different places. I keep trophies in different places sometimes. Some are in vaults. My coach has a lot of them, actually.”
