Serena Williams continued her
Roland Garros journey by defeating Buzarnescu in 6-3 5-7 6-1 in R2.
Serena Williams continued her Roland Garros campaign by defeating Buzarnescu in straight sets. Williams came out focused in the match and generally played much better than in R1. She was spectacular when serving losing only three points in the whole first set.
She won that set 6-3 but and she had a double break point in the first game in the 2nd set but could not convert. Lifted by that huge hold Buzarnescu was able to break Serena and take a 4-2 lead despite the American serving as well as in the first set. The problem for Serena was that she was not as good on her 2nd serve.
Even so, she pulled the break back and even force two break points at 5-5. Once again Buzarnescu was able to hold and force a break points of her own. She would convert it to take the 2nd set 7-5.
In the 3rd set, it was all Williams who rolled back the clock to completely demolish Buzarnescu. Serena was flying all over the court and proving that she still has world-class tennis in her. She finished off Buzarnescu with 6-1.
