Jelena Ostapenko is not happy with the umpire in her match against Azarenka: “I never want you at my match again. You will never be at my match. You ruin my matches.”
Ex-coach of the former world number one Serena Williams, Rennae Stubbs, has hit back at Latvian tennis star Jelena Ostapenko for her outburst during the Brisbane International.
The 26-year-old took a dig at the sitting umpire for awarding a point to her opponent Victoria Azarenka in the quarterfinal of the competition. During the changeover, the 2017 French Open winner was heard lashing out at the chair umpire.
Jelena Ostapenko is not happy with the umpire in her match against Azarenka: “I never want you at my match again. You will never be at my match. You ruin my matches.”
"You make so much mistake. With three bounce. I never want you on my match again,” she said. “You will never be on my match. You will never be on my match. I don't want you on my matches. You ruin my match. Final in Linz I will never forget. Never.”
Stubbs, in a post on her official account on social media platform X — previously known as Twitter — has hit back at Ostapenko and questioned whether she is aware of the rules in tennis.
“Umpire Julie Kjnedlie must just look at her schedule when she gets Ostapenko and say “oh bloody hell”… seriously does she know what a double bounce actually is?????,” she wrote.
Ostapenko went out of the competition after losing to the former world number in the last-eight clash with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.
