Ashleigh Barty made headlines when she announced her retirement from tennis a few months ago, but there is speculation that the former World No.1 might take up golf, and she apparently isn't bad at it.
Following her surprise retirement after winning the 2022
Australian Open, Barty participated in a local golf tournament in Queensland, and won the entire event. Additionally, it has been announced that she will participate in a team tournament that will be played in the United States this summer. This event will feature other sports stars such England football captain Harry Kane, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and boxer Canelo Alvarez.
So how good is Barty at golf? The 25-year old allegedly impressed golfing legend Tiger Woods at an event in 2019. Barty was invited to open the 2019 Presidents Cup when it was held in Australia that year, and made an impression on Woods after only a few swings.
"Are we joking? She has a beautiful swing!" Woods exclaimed.
Barty credits her love for golf to her father, Robert, who represented Australia at the amateur level. Furthermore, her mother also had a love for golf, which Barty claims is also responsible for her picking up the sport.
