"She's always checking in on me, I really appreciate her": Victoria Azarenka latest to share admiration for Chris Evert

Victoria Azarenka is through to the semi-finals of the 2024 Miami Open where she will take on Elena Rybakina and she was quizzed about her admiration for tennis legend, Chris Evert after defeating Yulia Putintseva in Florida.
Evert was also a topic earlier in the week with Coco Gauff also asked about 18-time Grand Slam singles champion and saying that she checks up on her. The same can be said for the former World No.1 who said that she tries to do the same amid recent cancer diagnosis and health scares and that she does her best to support her. But overall, Azarenka said that the belief is there from Evert towards her which she appreciates and that she is an inspiration to her.

"Chrissie is a dear friend, for sure. I definitely look up to her. As you said, she's an incredible legend of our sport. What she has done for women's tennis is undeniable. I feel like we don't necessarily talk so much about tennis. I really appreciate her as a person," the 34-year-old said.
"She's been going through some difficult moments in the last few years. Definitely just trying to kind of support her in that way. But she's always checking in on me, always wishing me the best. She believes in me pretty strongly."
