Aryna Sabalenka cruised past Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova to the Madrid Open final where she will play against Ashleigh Barty.
The Belarussian player has been on a tear in Madrid cruising past opponents without any issues. That was the case against Pavlyuchenkova as well whom she defeated 6-2 6-3. On that she said:
"I think my game has improved a lot on the clay court. For sure, it's given me some confidence, but there's still so many things to work on. I'm just really happy with my level here in Madrid."
Sabalenka currently boasts a 9-1 record on clay this season thanks to her runs in Madrid and Stuttgart. Her only loss came to Ashleigh Barty last week in the final of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. Now she will have a chance for revenge. Speaking about that match Sabalenka said:
"Physically I have to be ready for this match. She's No.1, she's great. I played her in Stuttgart. It's not an easy game. I will do everything I can to prepare myself as good as I can. Just looking forward to this battle."
For Sabalenka is has been a super week and speaking about that she said:
"Sometimes I have bad days. But when I'm here in Madrid and I'm playing my best and I see fans watching, there is nothing to be worried about and to be sad about. This week I'm definitely a happy person. Hopefully, I just keep going like this."
The final will be played tomorrow and be on the lookout for our preview which will be out later today.
