The women's doubles part of the US Open is finished and we saw new champions in Siegemund & Zvonareva crowned.

Siegemund and Zvonareva were the last doubles pair standing at the US Open after they defeated Melichar & Yu in the final 6-4 6-4. When the tournament started, not many people expected these two doubles pairs to be in the final but their play throughout the event proves that they weren't in the final by mistake. Heading into the match both pairs had equal odds according to the betting experts despite some preferring Melichar and Yu.
The first set started off slowly for both pairs as neither looked particularly impressive but both were good enough to win their own initial service game. Not long after that Siegemund and Zvonareva took control of the match breaking their opponents twice to take a 5-1 lead. They relaxed a bit dropping 3 games in a row before ending the run and set at 6-4.
They started the 2nd one off in similar fashion immidietly taking a break which proved crucial. They would go on to hold their serve until the end winning the 2nd one with 6-4 as well. Their performance was particularly impressive n the 2nd one where the didn't allow one break point. They deservedly won the grand slam which was Zvonareva's 5th doubles grand slam title and Siegemunds second. Congratulations.
