Ashleigh Barty has shown the latest sign that no comeback to tennis is imminent when quizzed on how motherhood compares to any of her Grand Slam titles.
Barty capped off her career with an Australian Open title before calling it a day only 25. But due to only being in her late 20's, Barty has been quizzed a lot on whether she would consider returning to tennis which she has always shut down.
The Aussie ace has kept involved in the sport and has always been present during the Australian Open in particular showing her effect still back home, but no signs have been there that she would return. She spoke to Body and Soul and was asked about motherhood.
“It’s relentless – it’s 24/7 – but it’s so rewarding and, honestly, it’s the best thing that I’ve ever done. I think it’s incomparable to being an athlete.”
But a question that followed surrounded whether it was better than her trophies with her and now husband, Garry having one son called Hayden. Barty won everything in tennis barring a US Open. “Without a doubt, not even a comparison. Absolutely.”
“There were plenty of times throughout my career when I thought training was hard or I had some tough days, but it just goes to a whole new level when you become a mum.”
