Simona Halep is through to the next round of the
Australian Open following a rather comfortable win over Haddad Maia 6-2 6-0.
Simona Halep put forward another solid display in Melbourne taking down Haddad Maia from Brazil in straight sets. The Brazilian enjoyed her best success at a grand slam at this event but from the start, it was evident that Halep was the much better player. Every time the rally developed, Halep overmatched her opponent rather easily and won the point.
The Brazilian served pretty well overall and was able to win a couple of games thanks to her serve but her movement was not very good and Halep had no issues controlling points with her aggressively playstyle and precise groundstrokes. She took an early lead in the first set and cruised to a 6-2 finish not long after that.
In the 2nd set, she continued doing more of the same with pretty good play overall. She took a 3-0 lead which became a 5-0 lead later on with some more precise groundstrokes. After that, she closed it out with 6-0 for the great win. It took her only a bit over an hour to win the match.
