Simona Halep marries longtime partner Toni Iuruc

The ceremony was held in Constanta, Halep's hometown and it will feature a part after the ceremony with about 300 guests. Halep confirmed the news of her marriage last week upon return to Romanian following the US Open. She said at the time:

"It's a beautiful event. I am emotional. These are different emotions than winning a Grand Slam, it's the personal part, tennis remains tennis. This is an extremely important step, and I'm happy it's happening"

Halep has enjoyed a tough 2021 season that saw her suffer a terrible injury during a crucial part of the season. It made her miss the French Open and Wimbledon where she would have had a decent chance of winning the event as a previous champion.

Halep did not offer any ccommetns as to when she will return to tennis after the US Open.
