Iga Swiatek despite not holding the same sponsorship/endorsement portfolio as the likes of Emma Raducanu and Naomi Osaka perhaps has a very good reason for that based off a recent interview.
Swiatek has barring a stint as World No.2 recently been the leading light in Women's Tennis and has a huge fanbase, but has not typically attracted the same money in endorsement as others who are not on her level at least at that point on the court. But also this means she can pick and choose given she is now a global sporting superstar.
Can make tactical choices
Swiatek speaking to sponsor PZU said that in a sense it means she can make 'tactical choices' and decline deals that she wouldn't have done early on in her career. But also that it is very much on her terms.
Not having a huge team of management trying to make her accrue deals means that she admits herself she has turned down multiple offers herself as the values of the companies don't align with her and the change she is trying to make.
"Now I'm a global athlete and foreign companies are also interested in me, so we can, in a sense, make a bit more tactical choices. See which of these companies would like to support at least the same charities or have the same values," said Swiatek via PZU.
"And we make decisions based on this. Besides, I turned down several nice offers precisely because sometimes the values of such a company are not necessarily in line with mine."
