Serena Williams and
Venus Williams are out of the
US Open doubles draw after getting beaten by Hradecka and Noskova in round one.
The sisters received a wild card entry into the event and looked very excited about playing doubles once more. However, it was only short-lived as they were beaten by the Czech pairing in a rather straightforward fashion 7-5 6-4.
This was probably the last time the sisters shared a court together as Serena is likely to retire after the event. The victory was unexpected for the Czech pairing as Hradecka said after the match:
“I’m still in shock that we won. I’m so sorry for you that we beat them, but we are so happy that we did it.”
The youngster Noskova will cherish this moment for the rest of the life calling it a special moment.
“Playing against the Williams sisters is a special moment for everybody, anyone and anytime.”
This was only the 2nd time they lost in round one as a pair with the first time being in 1997.
