Spanish duo Badosa and Muguruza withdraw from Abu Dhabi Open

Paula Badosa caught a viral illness and pulled out of the Abu Dhabi event hours before her match and her compatriot Garbine Muguruza did the same due to personal reasons.

Badosa is not having a very good start to the year as she had a couple of unlucky breaks. She played well leading up to the Australian Open but suffered an injury that kept her out of the Australian Open. The hope was to get back to winning ways in Abu Dhabi but that won't be happening as she withdrew on the day of her match due to a viral illness. Just another unlucky break for Badosa.

Her compatriot Muguruza is not dealing with any injuries but her problems are more troubling. Muguruza has struggled with her tennis for a very long time now dropping down in the rankings. She's very close to dropping out of the top 100 and not playing this week doesn't help in that regard. Her withdrawal also comes hours before she was supposed to take to the courts and the reason was listed only as 'personal reasons'.

She didn't start well this year battling confidence issues and fans are hoping she won't have to take a break from the sport.
