Welcome back @Clijsterskim 👋 #ChicagoTennisFestival
It was a solid effort from Clijsters who pushed veteran Su-Wei Hsieh to 3 sets demonstrating her signature clean ball striking. Obvious issues for Clijsters included movement on the court and her serve which was very inconsistent through the match but both of these things are heavily dependent on playing consistently which Clijsters hasn't been doing lately.
After the match she spoke about how it went:
“Obviously, it was exciting to go back out there after a long period of recovery. Super excited to be here and to start my match. The match, you know, some good things and bad things, inconsistency."
For Clijsters being able to get through the match was something she was looking at and speaking on it after the match she said:
"Physically being able to get through these matches without big concerns, that was the main goal. I came close today, but I still have a good feeling."
She finished off by underlining that she made progress and that was very important for her moving forward:
"I’ve made progress, and I think that’s the most important thing. What I’m looking at is that I’m improving overall, and that’s the positive thing."
