Emma Raducanu made history in many ways at the 2021
US Open but the most impressive one is being the first qualifier to win the event.
Many records were broken during the US Open fortnight when Emma Raducanu raced towards her maiden grand slam title. It was a sensational achievement for the British teenager who became the first qualifier ever to win a grand slam event. That created some interesting facts, one of which is that even if she defends her US Open title she will still lose points having earned 40 before for qualifying.
On another note, her incredible run and victory will be commemorated in the Tennis Hall of Fame with her winning outfit being displayed there. The British phenom donated her winning outfit she wore during the final to the Tennis Hall of Fame where it will be displayed among many other incredible mementoes.
It is expected that Raducanu’s US Open outfit will likely go on display in the International Tennis Hall of Fame museum, with outfits from the likes of Billie Jean King, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert already given pride of place across exhibits of the Open Era and the rise of tennis as a popular game.
