Elina Svitolina will face off against Rebecca Peterson in the semi-finals of the
Chicago Women's Open tomorrow after a clinical 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kristina Mladenovic.
Svitolina reeled off 11 games in a row and made up for lost time after her match was delayed due to Peterson's win over Teresa Martincova which ended up with a retirement for the Czech ace in the final set when the victor was 4-1 up.
The No.1 seed produced four aces, 89% winning percentage on her 1st serve as well as serving out 5/8 of break point opportunities.
In the other semi-final in Chicago, it will be Alize Cornet who saw off Marketa Vondrousova earlier against either Marta Kostyuk or Varvara Gracheva with an all Ukrainian final possible if the former wins through and Svitolina does the same against Peterson.
