Elina Svitolina continued her good form against the tricky
Coco Gauff whom she beat in straight sets to move to
Australian Open R3.
It took Elina Svitolina 78 minutes to comfortable move past Coco Gauff to reach the Australian Open round 3. It was a good effort from Svitolina who played very well in the opening set allowing only one break point in the first game. After that, she settled nicely finding a nice rhythm with good serving and solid baseline play. She could not find any chances on Gauff's serve until the last game of the set when she finally got break points which she used.
The 2nd set followed a similar pattern with Gauff once again having break points in the first game which she didn't use. She played more aggressively and found more chances on Svitolina's serve but once again failed to use a lone break point midway through the set. On her own serve she played well not allowing a single chance for the Ukrainian until late in the set. She Ukranian took it and closed it out with 6-3.
It was a solid match from Elina who was more composed in key moments converting break points clinically. She was also composed enough to hold off Coco's attempts and it worked out well for her.
