Iga Swiatek was once again able to come back and win a match in
Indian Wells as she avoided defeat against
Clara Tauson of Denmark. 6-7(3) 6-2 6-1.
Iga Swiatek is slowly putting together a decent campaign in Indian Wells as she was able to win another match where she was presented with adversity. It's become a theme for the Polish player who avoided quite a bit of it in Australia en route to the final. Today, she faced a very good Tauson and initially the Danish player had the upper hand.
She won the opening set with 7-3 in the tiebreak which was great for Tauson as she trailed 4-2 earlier. Swiatek got the memo and started playing much better early on in the 2nd set taking an early break. She applied even more pressure getting another break in and finishing off the set with 6-2.
It once again demonstrated mental strength by Swiatek which was a problem in previous years. The comeback win was completed by a complete thrashing in the 3rd set where Swiatek dominated play from the baseline. She finished it off with 6-1 to move on to the next round.
